Vehicle Fires

Our founder, Lee S. Cole, was considered the guru in vehicle fire investigation until his death in 2001. He was a well-known author of many guides and instruction manuals in the field of vehicle fire investigation. Lee Cole + Associates has trained many of the current vehicle fire investigators nationwide through our firm’s vehicle fire seminars. All of our investigators have extensive knowledge in vehicle fires through training, testing, and past experience.

Vehicle Theft & Locking Systems

Due to technology and its ever-changing nature, we now investigate theft in a much different manner than we did even 5-10 years ago. With the ever-changing application of technology, vehicle locking systems have moved beyond transponder technology. Most vehicles today do not use a mechanical ignition lock. The network of memories on the vehicle’s computers constantly monitors the vehicle’s security. If there is any unauthorized entry, the computer has the capability to communicate to remote monitoring through telematic communication.

Mechanical Evaluation

We have qualified experts who can determine mechanical failures of tires, air bags, and brakes as well as most other vehicle components. This has helped many clients in the area of product liability. From seat belt issues to detailed engine teardowns, our qualified investigators’ experiences are too numerous to list.

Our Experience

All of our associates have either already qualified as Expert Witnesses or have the expertise to do so. We have several individuals on staff who also provide seminars to others (such as IAAI regional conferences) as well as to our clients. The Lee S. Cole name has been synonymous with integrity and honesty in the vehicle investigation industry since 1976.

Our experience also has been documented in the many books and products that we have developed over the years for use by others in the field. Our best seller The Investigation of Motor Vehicle Fires, 4th edition, is used in many training applications for vehicle fire investigators and is mentioned as the source for more information on vehicle fire investigation in books such as the highly regarded and well recognized Kirk's Fire Investigation.
